Tooth Whitening

What is it?

Tooth whitening is a procedure that uses hydrogen peroxide to lift stains and discolouration from the teeth. There are many different types of whitening on the market that claim to whiten your teeth. These can be items such as home LED kits, toothpaste, strips and even pens.

None of these items actually contain any or enough of the hydrogen peroxide to lighten you teeth to a noticeable degree. This is because legally this product is only allowed to be prescribed by a GDC registered dentist and therefore not available to the consumer on the market.

As a dentist I believe and know that smiling is infectious – the bigger more beautiful smiles I see, the happier I feel!

Tooth whitening simply makes your smile whiter and brighter, and I can give you the tools to do the process in your own home, or do the whole treatment for you at the clinic.

Zoom uses light activated technology for better teeth whitening results.

Is it right for you?

  • There are usually two big reasons people come in for tooth whitening. Some people have been looking at their smile slowly fading over time as their teeth get more and more stained by food, drink or smoking or maybe they were born with slightly more discoloured teeth.
  • I also get a lot of clients who are coming up to a big event (like a wedding) and know they want to look spectacular on the day - and of course in the photos!
  • I only use the very best whitening treatments - like Phillips Zoom - which treats the stains without damaging your tooth enamel.
  • A white smile might be beautiful, but as a dentist there’s no way I’d compromise the health of your teeth for it!

How often

Should i come back?

The longevity of your new gorgeous smile really depends on how diligently you protect it! For some people, one treatment is all they’ll ever need!

If you smoke, or like to drink a lot of red wine or black coffee, you might find that your teeth are more likely to get stained again - not to worry, as long as you keep your trays in tip top shape all you will need to do is buy a refill kit and off you go.

You will never need to go through the whole process again as your teeth will not go back to how they started.
